Our Home for the next few months is going to be 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Her name is Norma Green and she is one tough cookie. We purchased her in 2016 and hastily built a sleeping platform/storage solution. It worked really well for what we needed then, but for such an extensive trip, we knew we needed to gut it and start over.
Meet Norma Green 2.0
After v1.0 was taken out. The chairs were replaced with much more comfortable ones.
The skeleton of the drawer going in.
We built lots of small storage everywhere. like this one for.. shoes?
The drawers with beautiful carpet and ikea leather cabinet pulls.
We blocked off one side of the rear windows since we never use it and made a small easy access storage.
The drawers going in!
Part of the skeleton is reserved for water, and all the electrical work. Having an electrical engineer came in real handy.
Other areas of storage, we re-used the wood from our previous build. Because – reduce, reuse, recycle!
and this one, for easy access to…snacks. priorities people.
Under the drawers, we have the extension board we use to sleep. Also doubles as a cooking surface since Norma’s trunk provides a natural cover. It’s sprayed with truck bedding which makes it waterproof!
With the cushions in and most importantly, Zoe’s look of approval.
